How I stay awake on my nights off

So, I think most of you know that I’m a nurse and as a nurse we switch from days to nights. Currently I’m on my night rotation, which I love! I’m such a night owl! I would stay on nights if my husband would let me!
I start my night off with a coffee break because let’s face it, I need coffee in my life! Then I put on my air pods and hit the pavement. While listening to the Greatest Showmen soundtrack. I know, you’re thinking that’s not a playlist I would listen too while running, but there is something about having Hugh Jackman singing to you that makes your heart pound a little faster and your feet move a little quicker. It has become my favorite workout playlist.

Now I’m definitely no graceful runner. When I do run it sounds like I’m running with a herd of elephants and an asthmatic gasping for their last breath of air because even at 1 o’clock in the morning the temperature is 80° with 85% humidity. Its like running under a dryer vent! I’ve been on this beautiful island of Guam now for 7 months now and I still can’t get used to it, but I don’t let it stop me from running. I look like a hot mess afterwards (see picture), but in the end it’s totally worth it when my running app tell me I ran faster than the day before.
I enjoy the peacefulness of my neighborhood at night. I love that I can run down the middle of the street and not have to worry about cars or the huge black bird that like to attack runners during the day. If I time my run just right, I can catch a glimpse of the sunrise before the rest of the neighborhood wakes up.
